Who are we when we don’t know who we are?

Exploring the fluidity of our identities

Greeting from flow!

We are back again with a new episode, and it’s an unusual one.

Some conversations have a mind of their own and go in unexpected directions. In this episode, we started off trying to answer one question, but in the end, the discussion flowed, making us explore something that was emerging in the field even though we were not aware of it.

From identity changes to cultivating the garden of our inner parts to the elusive existence of the “true self”, it all could be described by one question: what happens when we stop trying to be someone?

These conversations are open explorations, that become richer with time and participation of others. We’d be thrilled to have you participate, if there was something that touched you. Ba commenting here, or sending us a message.

In flow,

Irina, Polina and Yulia

Things that were said:

“If you couldn't be someone for a month — no identity at all — what would life be like? Maybe not knowing isn't emptiness. Maybe it's a state that allows us to flow.”

“True self might be less about a singular identity and more about an energetic frequency that remains constant even as our parts and roles shift through different contexts.”

“We’re never truly alone. Even when I'm the only human in the room, the trees shape us, the moon affects us, the wind influences us. Our identity exists in a porous way, always co-creating.”

"Our internal system is more like a forest. It's wild, interconnected, full of involution — everything getting involved with everything all the time, with outcomes that are just not predictable."

“We perform not just for others, but for ourselves too. I react and feel in certain ways when I’m completely alone, just because that’s my identity — that’s who I assume I am. But that’s just one of my identities.”

"Identity is something we identify with. The social identity is the mask I put on to fit in. But even when I take it off, I might just put on a different mask that I believe is the 'real me’."

Let it flow,
