How do we step into the sense of belonging with Life?

Where do you belong? And what happens when the answer is "nowhere"? Is it still possible to find your way into the sense "I am a part of it all"?

Greetings once again!

Flow never stops, it just constantly changes its shape. And so, we continue with it, bringing to you our new generative conversation that dives into the mysteries of living in flow.

In this episode, we explore what belonging and not-belonging feel like.

It has happened to the three of us: this insisting feeling “I don’t belong anywhere”. And so, we wonder: what if belonging isn't about finding the right people or the right community at all? What does it take for one, through the desperate desert of alienation and estrangement, to find one’s way back to the mothering embrace of something bigger?

We invite you to join us in this fascinating exploration.

Some things that have been said:

Irina:

“Not belonging feels to me like being lost, misplaced. You are a piece in the puzzle, but you’re in the wrong puzzle — and you don’t understand what you’re doing here.”

“When your nervous system relaxes and you enter into this more generative state, life itself guides you to those social circles where you can feel this belonging.”

“I belong here because I belong with Life.”

“Belonging to me feels like being connected to thousands of very fine threads to the world around me.”

“I all of a sudden realized: I am Russian. I can’t explain what makes me Russian, but I’m definitely Russian. And I belong to this place before belonging with this place.”

Yulya

“Non-belonging to me feels like a wall that is not to be penetrated. It’s like a wall made out of concrete. I can bang my head on this wall and it won’t move.”

“Not belonging creates this numbness in terms of desires. I don’t want to step into deep desires because I already know I’m not going to get what I desire.”

“The wild doesn’t care what you believe in, what you’ve done wrong. The wild just takes you in and gives you love. Love that is unconditional.”

“Belonging for me feels like a dance. The music can be different, partners can be dancing differently, but I’m on the dancing floor — and me dancing my dance changes the dancing floor. It shifts something.”

“By cutting myself off from places and situations where I disagree, I’m undermining my own agency. I am actually shrinking my sense of belonging.”

Polina

“Not belonging to me feels like existential dread.”

“Belonging to me feels like registering in the space. Like I’m really here. I’m registered. I am registered in a way that is felt as a valuable contribution.”

“I’m of this life. I belong. I have cells in me that are of my dad. I have cells in me that are of my grandpa.”

“My sense of belonging originally stemmed from the experience of not belonging.”

“When I was younger, I was just very naive to the fact that we’re just people. We’re all just people having an experience. What does it matter what kind of person you are, what color, what gender, what age?”
